University Range Day

After a typical New England winter, Sunday, April 13, 2003, was a beautiful day to have 11 students from Brown University out to the Club for a 'Range Day'. Three seniors and eight juniors were guests of the Club and were introduced to the fun and enjoyment of shooting. The afternoon started with a range briefing of safety rules and range rules. There were three shooting positions staffed by club volunteers Scott Clarke, Buzz DeMailly, Don Durante and Dave Bold who gave each student one-on-one instruction and supervision. Students shot a variety of rifles such as a .22lr bolt action and semi-autos, a .270 Win Mag bolt action, a 7.62x39mm semi-auto and a 30'06 M1 Garand from WWII. These young men and women had a great time AND were very good shots. They are a fine example for others. It was a pleasure to have them at the club.

Special thanks to Don Adams and Carl Frederick for their donation of firearms, ammo and range help.

The group of students included: Dave, Chris, Evan, Razvon,
Jordan, Christian, Will, Melissa, Julie, and more.
